In our quest to be the best mobility platform in the market we are constantly striving to be in a position to add tangible value to our customers in the shortest possible timeframe.
In today's blog I will highlight some less known functionality which is available on the TOKN platform right out of the box and I will also show an example of our latest application which is now functional after a short development cycle.
The TOKN Mobility platform gives customers complete control over the look and feel of their own apps. Changing the cosmetic layout makes the apps not only user friendly, but also allows those apps to adhere to specific corporate branding and in so keeping the user experience consistent.
In the examples below, we can see a customised layout with contemporary design where screen icons look more flat than the old 3D type of icons that were previously very popular. The imaging can be completely changed and branded as needed.
For the companies where maintenance activities are a key element of their daily operation or where addressing safety, health and environment risks have to be done in the shortest possible timeframe, time is not only money, but a critical factor in their regular operational priority. Getting the information to the people who will plan and execute the needed repairs or safety activities as fast as possible is of utmost importance. Mobility is a great enabler of this type of activity because the information can be logged in real time at the physical location where the issue is found, completely removing the need for the person to take notes and then to go back to an office environment to get the issue logged and then captured to a system.
We have built a notification application which seamlessly integrates with SAP to allow just this action.
Below are a few screen shots showing how this application can be utilised to speed up the process and to reduce wasted time and effort by handling the same item multiple times before it gets logged to the needed system for action.
The notification is captured with key elements for it to make sense to the people responsible to plan the execution of the maintenance work which is required.
Giving the planner a visual of the problem adds tremendous value since they are able to then visualise the problem and with that additional information, they can assign the necessary team and materials to perform the required corrective action and to do it once. The application allows the user to initiate an attachment which is added by taking a picture using the device camera. Below is an example of this.
On returning from taking the picture, the picture is attached to the notification as can be seen below.
The user can then save that notification on the device and it is then transmitted to SAP when a network connection is available. To re-iterate, this activity can be done off-line if necessary due to remote location of some equipment.
The notification is then created in SAP as below and the attachment can be seen attached to the notification. This attachment can also be attached in a DMS solution linked to SAP if needed.
